Grafari

Grafari guides children aged 6 and above through a spelling journey, from the introduction of letters and sounds to the basics of writing and typing. The goal during the training is to get the learner to a full focus mode, making elements on screen as clean and less distractive as possible. While exploring other sections of the app, learners engage in various activities such as listening to stories, purchasing items in the virtual shop, and tracking their progress.

Coach

The coach provides educators, supervisors and parents with valuable insights into learners' activities and sessions. Users can analyze individual and group progress, as well as offer support to learners who may require support.

About my role

As the sole Product Designer, my responsibilities ranged widely across products.

  • Partnered closely with Christian Vögeli, the founder of Dybuster, to shape product strategy and vision.

  • Led projects through all stages of the design process—from conceptualization to execution—by developing user flows, creating interactive Figma prototypes, and preparing designs specifications for implementation.

  • Built and maintained a flexible design system tailored to the school ecosystem, adapting Figma components and variants for use across different educational apps.

  • Translated insights from subject matter experts into intuitive user experiences.

  • Collaborated with universities and professors to enhance our understanding and improve the effectiveness of educational apps and the coach feature through pilots in various schools.

  • Conducted user testing and research, engaging with teachers, parents, and learners to enhance the user experience.

My contributions wouldn’t be the same without the collaboration of my colleague and friend, Fraser. Together, we worked closely to create illustrations and graphics that communicated to children in a fun and engaging manner.

Orthograph and Calcularis

The two apps based on neuroscience and scientific studies to improve spelling, problem solving and reduce math anxiety were created before my time in Dybuster. The first collaboration started in 2017 as a freelance, and my task was to improve the navigation and user experience of the apps. This contributed in winning several awards like the Klaus J. Jacobs Awards Best Practice Prize:
